Gas Product Certification Guidelines

Anyone considering lodging an application to have their Gas Product certified should read these Guidelines for Certification first.

(NB: The non-refundable deposit payable upon lodgement of an Application is now 50% of the total fee payable +GST if applicable effective 1 July 2009.  Refer to the posted fee schedule to determine the exact amount payable at lodgement.    Importantly, there is still no increase in the total project fee payable.)

This document is intended as a guide to the AGA Certification Scheme process. It should be read in conjunction with the Rules Governing the AGA Product Certification Scheme for Type Tested Gas Product.

If, in addition to gas, you wish your product to be certified to electrical and/or Watermark requirements you will need to download the documentation for those categories too.  Please note however that whilst there is a Gas/Electrical combined Application Form, any Application for certification of a Plumbing Product has to be lodged on the form specific to that category (refer the Water section).

NB: VIABILITY ASSESSMENT BEFORE APPLICATION LODGED

For customers requiring an indicative cost of laboratory testing prior to deciding whether or not a specific project is commercially viable, AGA now offers a fee for service solution.  Customers just need provide whatever technical and other relevant documentation they can for the specific product and formally request that AGA provide this service.  AGA will then (based upon the limited information received) discuss with relevant laboratories to develop an indicative testing cost.  The time spent by AGA will be charged to the Customer at the appropriate member/non-member administrative rate as listed in the current fee schedule. Please note that any such laboratory test costs are additional to AGA fees for lodged Applications; any fee for service charges are separate from any AGA fees relating to a subsequenetly lodged Application (ie do not count as part of the required Application fees); and AGA cannot guarantee that actual laboratory testing costs will be the same as or similar to the indicative charges provided to the Customer.
