The GACM Steering Committee recently met in Melbourne for a productive and forward focused meeting, led by the elected Chairman, Bill Tabourlos.
Since its first meeting in Singapore in 1997, GACM has developed into a well established international forum dedicated to enhancing trade, supporting industry innovation and strengthening consumer safety across the Western Pacific. Through open dialogue and collaboration, GACM supports the alignment of appliance certification approaches and helps build trusted pathways across markets.
The Melbourne meeting brought together representatives from AGA, KGS, JIA, CGAC and TGDC, with members engaging openly and constructively on a range of strategic and forward looking matters. The discussion reflected the strong collaborative culture that has underpinned GACM for more than two decades and continues to guide its ongoing development.
A key outcome of the meeting was the Steering Committee reaching alignment on the theme for the 2026 GACM, which will be hosted in Australia in November 2026. While further details will be shared in due course, the agreed direction reflects careful consideration of current and emerging industry needs.
GACM continues to play an important role in connecting organisations across the region, building shared understanding and supporting confidence across jurisdictions. With collaboration at its core, GACM remains focused on advancing appliance safety, supporting innovation and contributing to long-term sustainability outcomes.
Further updates will be provided as planning for the 2026 GACM progresses.
