The Western Australian Government has introduced new Retail Gas Safety Notice requirements. These updates focus on POL and LCC 27 connections as used for LPG cylinders to ensure consumers receive clear safety information at the point of sale.
Retailers and suppliers in WA must now display safety notices for POL and LCC 27 LPG cylinder connections where these products are sold. The signage is intended to improve consumer awareness regarding safe handling, connection differences, and associated risks. The key objective is to reduce potential hazards by ensuring users understand the proper use of these fittings before purchase.
Gas retailers and suppliers are urged to review these requirements to ensure compliance with the new regulations.

The Victorian Government is proceeding with its push for a renewable gas market following the release of the Renewable Gas Directions Paper in December 2024. The consultation process has now concluded and the government is expected to finalise its approach based on the feedback received.
One of the key proposals is the Industrial Renewable Gas Guarantee which includes a certificate scheme aiming to produce 1 petajoule (PJ) of renewable gas per year within the first three years and scaling up to 4.5 PJ per year by 2035. This policy is intended to drive investment in renewable gas, however concerns remain about costs, energy reliability and whether the necessary infrastructure exists to support these targets.
The broader Gas Substitution Roadmap remains the foundation of Victoria’s energy strategy to promote electrification and energy efficiency over continued reliance on natural gas. This shift has drawn criticism from industries that depend on gas for manufacturing, heating and industrial operations, which has raised concerns about affordability and energy security.
With consultation now closed the government is expected to release its final policy direction shortly.

At present the Government Website pages for the above appliances (www.Energyrating.gov.au) still only relate to the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Determination 2015. When these pages are updated with the new information relating to the new Determination, we’ll advise you all and provide the appropriate links.

As mentioned in previous NewsFlashes, this is a reminder that all product Certifications must be updated within two years of the associated Standard’s publication. Failure to comply may result in suspension as per the Gas Technical Regulators Committee (GTRC) Scheme Rules.
Clarification on Multiple Standards Certification
If a product is certified under multiple Standards (e.g., AS/NZS 5263.0 and AS/NZS 5263.1.7), the certification update must align with the earliest updated Standard.
For example:
– AS/NZS 5263.0 was published on 23/06/2023
– AS/NZS 5263.1.7 was published on 22/03/2024
– Certification must be updated by 23/06/2025, even though AS/NZS 5263.1.7 is not due until 22/03/2026.
This requirement has been confirmed by the GTRC and applies to all certifications linked to the updated Standard regardless of whether related Standards are still within their update period.
Urgent Action Required
* AS/NZS 5263.0 is the primary Standard for all Part 1 Standards meaning many certifications will require updates before 23 June 2025.
* Delays in submission could lead to certification suspension as enforced by the GTRC
* Submit your application now to ensure compliance and avoid disruption.

AS 4563:2022 Amd 1:2024 – Commercial catering gas equipment was published on 20 December 2024
AS 1869.0:2023 Amd 1:2025 (Hose and hose assemblies for liquefied petroleum gases (LP Gas), natural gas and town gas) was published on 14 February 2025.
