The Student Journey
Enrolling in a vocational education and training program at AGA is the beginning of what we call the Student Journey. This pathway includes:
Comprehensive Learning: Engaging with coursework and practical exercises designed to develop your skills and knowledge.
Demonstrating Competency: Successfully completing coursework and demonstrating your ability to apply knowledge and skills in various contexts.
Supportive Environment: Our skilled trainers and assessors will guide and support you throughout your entire learning journey.
Issuing a certificate depends on your successful completion of the coursework, demonstration of competency, and payment of any outstanding course fees.
Competency-Based Learning & Assessment at AGA
Training at AGA is designed to ensure that you can:
1. Consistently apply knowledge and skills to the standard of performance required in a workplace.
2. Transfer and apply these skills and knowledge to new situations and environments. This approach is embedded in all learning activities, providing you with opportunities to learn, practice, and perform in different industry contexts. Our trainers and assessors bring years of industry experience to help you achieve these standards.
Course Entry Requirements:Each AGA program has specific entry requirements to help you succeed in demonstrating the necessary competencies. Generally, these requirements include:
Physical Ability: Capability to perform manual tasks, such as lifting and moving equipment and parts.
Language, Literacy, and Numeracy: Proficiency to understand technical and regulatory information, such as Australian Standards and industry codes, and to perform gas and electrical calculations.
Prerequisites: Meeting required prerequisites or being able to demonstrate the prerequisite vocational competencies of a particular Unit of Competency.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)
As part of the national vocational education and training system, you must provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI) or a valid exemption. Here’s how to obtain your USI:
1. Visit the USI website at www.usi.gov.au.
2. Click on “For Students” and select either “Get your USI” or “Forgot your USI”.
3. Provide identifying information, such as an email address, mobile phone number, or identity document.
If you do not have a USI or valid exemption, we cannot enrol you or issue nationally recognised training certification. While we can enrol you with an exemption, we cannot report your training data to the Commonwealth or State training authorities, which means:
* Your training and assessment results will not be available through the Commonwealth.
* Your results will not appear on any authenticated VET transcript provided by the Student Identifiers Registrar.
